Gonesse - The green town

The town of Gonesse is well known for being an ecological town. As some cities across the world are beginning to show self aware concerning pollution, global warming and the importance of green spaces, Gonesse is already implementing a plan to make the city even greener than it has been.

 

For several years, certain techniques are being implemented in Gonesse with three main objectives: adequately maintain the green spaces while limiting pollution of the environment, enhance wildlife, diversify the types of development while creating a landscape unit of the city. With these three objectives in mind Gonesse plans to reshape the city with a little help from the new trend in city development: urban ecology.

 

The public spaces and individual gardens are living spaces where nature itself can be found. Dozens of species of birds, insects and butterflies can thrive and surprise us. Urban ecology seeks to introduce the wildlife habitat as a part of city life, while limiting pollution of the environment.

 

Squares, open parks, golf courses; the city has over 60 hectares of green space. Given their differences, it seems inadequate to maintain them the same way. It is for this reason that the technical services have chosen to apply the “differentiated management”, a term that refers to the various kinds of interviews tailored to each type of green space.

One can only hope in a few years the town will be a role model to most of the industrialized cities as well as all major cities around the world.
